they are legit - but it's a bit of a nuisance for clients to use it - compared of course to the simplicity of PayPal

One good thing about e-gold is that a possibility of a chargeback is next to nil.

I'm not so much interested as accepting egold as a form of payment (although it could be worth while to set up if I open an account anyway), it just looks like a real easy way to buy and sell Gold without actually having to buy and sell it, but to be honest their site looks very amateurish and I'm not sure they're legit.

They are legit, and are the original gold based e-currancy. I have used them since 2000 and have had no problems. It is a great way to accept international payments because of the payments are not revokable. This means that it can be difficult for new customers to get into the system since they are usually trying to get a hard curancey (e-gold) for a soft curancy such as wire transfer, check, or rarely accepted credit cards.

they are legit..
but you can withdrawl/deposit the money only through 3rd party services.. like.. omnipay.net .. etc.. it's all listed in their website's directory.
Not many stores use E-Gold though... and.. I just hate the fact that.. they charge monthly storage fee. I think.. 1% of your balance every month.. and.. I'm not sure how much they charge when you send payment...
