I want to buy some model toys online from a merchant in HongKong (who is nearest with me). They provide email and FAX as their contact info. I tried to contact them by email but could not get any response during the last 10 days. (I tried my Gmail account, Hotmail and two business email addresses, no response) I also tried to send them a product inquire letter via FAX yesterday (HongKong daytime), no response. What wrong with this merchant? I saw their AdWords ADs are still running and they said they reply email within 1 business day. If you have the same experience, what will you do?

not every website owner wants to answer lots of questions to make a small sale.

i put a lot of effort into building my sites, displaying and describing products etc. some people contact us with questions, but the questions have already been answered on the website.

if i answer these questions again, i might make a sale. if i make a sale, it won't pay for the time spent answering all the questions.

if people want to buy then great, they can buy. if they aren't sure, they need to read the website. if they don't read the website, then i don't sell to them.

result = i make good sales and i spend my time building more sites to make more sales instead of answering lots of silly questions........... (not to say that your questions were silly)

No it's not a small sale and that why I contact this merchant.

Buyers are impatient. If a guy asks me a question which can be found on my website, the guy will order.
Some buyer (like me) uses this merthod to test a merchant before make a payment.

I finally received an email from this merchant a few hours ago. The guy said he did not receive my emails (and FAX) except the hotmail one (my 3rd email of N). Don't know why he did not receive my FAX and I asked my questions again and still waiting for his response. What a cool merchant.

some merchants don't want to be tested, they just want to make sales!
i estimate i could make an extra 1% of sales by spending several hours a week answering questions. i'd rather spend that several hours a week enjoying myself or building new websites to make even more sales.

in my experience, many "hong kong" sellers are actually based in china and shuttle between the two.

its possible the guy has gone off to mainland china for a couple of weeks.

on the other hand, if you buy and latr have a problem, do you really want to deal with someone who cant be readily contacted?

The guy said that they have problem of their email system (out going email is pending in the server). I investigated his website and found that the guy uses a very cheap hosting (ipow******) for his business and "Web server hosts 733 websites".

Just want to share you guys of my experience about this cool, strange merchant.

I placed my order at May 24. To speed up the shipping process, I choose a very costly shipping method but after a few days, no message from this merchant at all.

I thought that maybe some items are out of stock? So I email them again, and here is their response:

"It is because our company is running by 2 people only. We will wait more orders and do items picking in a batch. So it takes a longer time to wait for other orders. "

It seems that I should relax myself much more, because my company is running by one person only.
