Hi all,

Just trying to help a friend who has a website, she wants to be able to accept credit cards from her clients in the UK. She lives outside of the UK and all she has in the way of banking is a personal account with one of the banks in the UK.

Can anyone please lend a hand and let us know if there's a way to do it please, that isn't too expensive.

Any help much appreciated.

Sev.

With a PayPal Business account, she would be able to accept credit card payments from the UK (and other countries). She would be able to use PayPal Account Optional to receive credit card payments from customers who do not have PayPal accounts.

The credit card types supported within the UK are:

Mastercard/Eurocard
Visa/Delta/Electron
American Express
Switch/Maestro
Solo

Please refer to the PayPal website to find the fees for payments to a Business account. If she holds an account in a country other than the UK, payments from UK customers would be subject to the cross-border fee rate.

Also try Secpay which provide a payment gateway via the main high-street UK banks.

We also use Nochex. Its quite quick and simple to setup, and they take all Uk-registered credit/debit cards.

I think you'd need a Uk bank account however to withdraw money to.

(ps. nochex site has been down all day today :-(, but usually its quite reliable).
