I have wondered why nochex and egg pay prevent businesses from opening accounts with them.

If I could get them to accept business transactions then I'd save 8% !

Why is it that some commercial websites are offering the facility to pay for goods via nochex and egg pay? I have spoken to both and they insist that the service must not be used for business use.

Whats the legal / tax / vat issue here? Will the revenue / C&E accept business payments paid first into a personal account?

NoChex allow businesses to open accounts, but you wont save 8%. Each withdrawl of money is charged at 99pence or 1% whichever is the greater. If you only withdraw £99 or more at a time, you would save 7% :)

There is also a highstreet on one of the tabs on www.nochex.com where businesses can advertise that they take nochex payments.

but not all businesses!

If the business account has a switch / solo / delta card then nochex will accept you.

Only the self employed small traders can use the facility but not Ltd. Co's.

Unless you know of a bank which will allow Ltd accounts to have switch facilities?
