What does everyone do with their inventory that is not moving? How can you get rid of it online? Does anyone else have this problem?

Isn't that the purpose of Ebay?

eBay is a possibility for bulk lots. I just donate mine though.

> not moving?

1) Free with every purchase, limit one per person? ;)

2) Bundle in lots. So, offer 2, 5, or 10 for the same price.

Yeah, Ebay is great but it's practically a full time job with a nice sized learning curve in order to be effective so I am told...Budling is a good idea, have you been successful with this?

Yes, bundling works to a degree. If you have a lot of inventory, you might look into a liquidator/jobber:

What about advertising my closeouts and promoting them on a special section of my site even potentially as a loss leader, if neccessary, in order to attract new customers? Has anyone tried this? Trying to carve out a good strategy here...Thanks

Massive discounts for overstock - run a sale right on your home page.

If you really want to unload some stuff, I've found dropping a mass mail to all previous customers offering them a big discount for items you want cleared out and a rather short expiration date on the sale will motivate them to move fast if they have any interest. "7-DAY SALE - 50% OFF OVERSTOCK ITEMS"

Also, try to get people to join your mail list with a sweepstakes offer and give a handful of them away to random people as the customer list may be worth more than your stock at this point.

Always options, be creative.

Problem is (actually I'm speaking as a wholesaler here) you divert your prime buyers' money into your dumped garbage, and they won't re-buy because they'll forevermore associate you with that garbage which didn't sell for them. A few months go by and they won't remember or care that they got it as closeout, they'll just remember that you're the guy who sold them junk.

You need to liquidate anonymously in an entirely separate channel. I guess if you're a retailer with no repeat business, it doesn't matter, though. There are always more fish in the ocean. Suckerfish.
