Paypal or 2Checkout?

Which do you prefer?

Which of these two services do you prefer? Both as a seller and also as a purchaser?

Personally, I find 2Checkout easier to use, just because I don't have to login and such like Paypal. But doesn't Paypal charge less for their services for the seller?

I need to compare more obviously but I want to know what you prefer and why. :)

For what?

If you're creating an account for accepting transactions as a business entity, go 2CO. Depending on many market factors, paypal may be fine to offer as an alternative, but do not use paypal as your only option for payment. Unless of course you are a competitor of mine, then it is acceptable..

Okay, I read on Paypal's site that as a business acct. you can accept payment without the purchaser needing an acct. as well.

Why 2CO over Paypal? Just curious, that's all.

Thanks.

Just put both as options and let your customer decide.
While they are deciding which one to use they are not thinking about leaving your site!

I use Pay pay as for now . Earlier i was using ccnow and they were charging 11% That was Damn TOO high for me and using pay pal coz its very economical but also planning to add 2check out now . Just a suggestion You can have only Paypal in the beginin to start with if you are not very sure if ur site will work or not and then go in for an additional merchant like 2checkout

Both as a seller and also as a purchaser?

I usually reconmend sellers to use both, as a purchaser I like paypal - no eyes watching that account "You spent XX on that!"

Use both. I have exactly that setup (2co and pp).
Sales increased by 15% when I added pp. PP accounts for 30% of sales now (to me, this was unexpected).

Previously there were some pretty bad posts on 2co - in my experience they have considerably cleaned up thier act

Has anyone done the reverse? Had just a Paypal account (with the optional credit card processing) and added a 2Checkout account? Did it increase sales?

It did with me. I had aPP account and found that people were giving up when they didnt have an account at the time this was costing me about $100 a day.

Much prefer to have a credit card account than Pay pal.

Get both - technically they are both a 3PP, but Paypal's business plan is a bit different and 2CO is closer to a "real" merchant account

Do you recall how long ago you made that switch? Was it before PayPal offered Account Optional checkout?

I would recommend paypal as to begin with no startup fees or monthly charges are there.Pay pal now accepts credit card offers without forcing people to sign-up. You can go with PayPal.It transfers money instantly between PayPal accounts.
Some advantages of paypal………which are there to be seen for everyone………..
oThe customer can easily make on-line purchases.
oPayPal offers other services such as shipping tools and free money transfer.
oThe merchant and customer's checking account and credit card information is verified by PayPal to minimize fraud.
oThe merchant instantly receives the on-line payment into their PayPal account.

I had 2checkout account and they did not give my USD6000.00 for 6-7 months. At the end bbbonline.org helped me and contacted them to release my money. They gave no reason after just a mail "misunderstanding" never them again. As a seller and buyer I prefer paypal.com

This is a retraction to my eariler state
I usually reconmend sellers to use both
With the new procedures 2co is just not worth it anymore.

i agree webtress. 2CO used to be okay, but with all the bs about them being a "reseller" of my goods. That's just a lie. I know it's just a dodge to get around (work with?) the credit card rules, but this is just too much. Then they want to dictate to site owners how you can refer to 2co on your site. Oh, and they get all up in your business between your customers and you and will refund money when the "customer" is a thief. i still have a big chargeback in limbo because 2co refuses to even follow up on the emails from the customer. I say "stay away" from 2co.

I've heard worldpay is okay. never tried them. face it. they're all ripoffs, one way or another. Best thing to do is find a "real" merchant account w/authorize.net. bite the bullet and get it done. In the long run, it's cheaper and it looks a lot better to customers.
