PayPal Alternative?

Low volume, seasonal sales

Looking for an alternative to PayPal.

I only receive credit card payments 2 months out of the year, so I'm looking for low (to no) monthly fees and setup fees with maybe a higher per transaction fee.

Anyone had experience with cardservice.com?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks Lorax. My feelings weren't hurt though, I understand their are bigger fish to fry in the e-commerce ocean.

Since my volume is so low, I am considering manually running cards via ProPay.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Good question. I actually DON'T want to stop using PayPal. They incorrectly (at least in my eyes) suspended my account as they said I was in violation of their User Agreement.

This was after using them for a year without a problem (during which time they gladly took their cut), then suspended me without any notification. After several failed attempts to get reinstated as I believed (and still do) that they misunderstood my services, I've decided to move onward ... if not immediately upward.

I enjoyed using PayPal and never had a bad experience, until this week.

Ah, unfortunately, that's not my area of expertise. However, if you've only been in communication with PayPal by email up to this point, I would suggest calling them up to try and get it sorted out over the phone. If you've already been through that, then I'm sorry to hear that we couldn't accomodate your business and I hope you are able to find an alternative solution.

I was under the impression you only get to call if you maintain a monthly minimum like $10,000 USD per month?

For seasonal sales, 2Checkout may be right for you. There is a one time setup fee and no annual fee.

Propay works well. The economics are such that Propay is only economical if you charge in low volume, a few hundred dollars a month. [At this level the alternatives with their monthly statement fees but lower commission rates end up costing more.] And note they have maximum amounts which can be charged in a month (for their basic level it is $250/transaction and $1000 in a month--although if you exceed $250 you can run 2 transactions). [There are different levels you can subscribe at, the higher levels having higher annual fees]
