I had a customer email me that they will not purchase from my site because of the payment processor I employ.

Has anyone had simular experiences or percieve a lost customers due to the particular preferred payment processor?

Is it best to just except credit cards without letting the customer know whom the credit card processor is?

We get emails from customers who are not comfortable giving credit card number on the internet for various reasons including the payment processor. We provide them with alternate payment methods (check, wire etc)and it solves the problem in most cases.

It depends. Usually if you have your own MID - you have your own merchant account & hopefully you process on your own site. This way, it keeps the consumer on your website. They do not know what gateway (authorizenet.com, LinkPoint, Verisign) that you might use.

Of course, if it is Paypal or 2CO, you are somewhat out of luck. And yes I have seen that a lot - a lot of people do not trust Paypal
