Does anyone successfully mix "real" sales on the same website as affiliate links?

Yes. People also successfully have mixed sales and adsense. It depends on the specific situation. If your sales make a profit of $100 and your affilaite referral is $30, than it makes no sense to add affiliate links. But if your affiliate referral payout is closer to your sales or the affiliate links are for complimenting products and not directly competing than go ahead and test it out.

Okay first post her but I've been around awhile - call me a lurker....

So here is my question regarding this - are we talking about monitizing your site or selling the same product and affiliate product?

Here's what I found - while I think I'm wonder fabulous and know everything I do bow to the fickle surfer - what I think they will click and buy isn't always the case so I always hedge my bets so to speak - and have affiliate links to up my numbers.

If I start to notice that my sales # are significantly lower then my affiliate number then I make adjustments.

I guess I'm saying - you can't please all the people all the time - or never put all your eggs in one basket...wait I'll come up with some other great cheezy sayings....

Cheezy but true.
