Withdraw PayPal funds in Indian currency!

I am glad that finally we Indians have a way to pull money out of PayPal. From PayPal:

The currency of your check will depend on your country of residence.
Members in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Ecuador, Jamaica, or Uruguay will receive their check denominated in US Dollars
Members in India will receive their check denominated in Indian Rupee

Well may you checked into your paypal late this service has been since 10 days...

Upper limit $2500 per month
lower limit is $150 per withdwawl

Any ways its great offer for all these countries webmasters mab be ebay deal for bazeee initiated that

I would definitely like to know the exchange rates they are offering and i smell something fishy about this...they are not clearly mentioning anything on there website just brief description in one of the help sections topics....that too irrelevant

Please do share your experience when ever you or some 1 known to you withdraws money like this

I have been checking PayPal account almost daily but its possible that they are activating this feature in blocks.

Even though I got a notice today (while logging into account) but I am still unable to located an option to "Receive a check from PayPal" under Withdrawal page. So may be they are still putting things together.

Yes it might be possible they are doing it in phases

I received the same message "Withdraw funds via check" when I logged into my Paypal account. I could even see a "View Limits" link near the account balance and "Withdraw using check" link under withdrawal option. I logged out.

I logged into paypal again a day later and the check withdrawal option was gone. I contacted Paypal and got a reply, check withdrawal option is not available to Indian Paypal accounts.

I still sometimes get "Withdraw via check" update message when I login into my Paypal account but I don't see any such option under Withdraw link.

Finally I could see the option to withdraw checks in my account. I did submit a request to receive check and let's see how things go on from here.

Currency rate was bit surprising but considering where USD is going I think I had no other option than to accept it and move on :) I got:

1 USD = Rs. 42.3498
And $5 fees per check.

I will update once I receive the check (or otherwise too).

UPDATE: Finally received the cheque in India.

04 Jan 2005 - Submit my request for withdrawing money.
10 Jan 2005 - Cheque was processed.
11 Jan 2005 - Cheque dispatched.
28 Jan 2005 - Cheque received.

In short - It took me over three weeks to receive money from PayPal. So, if you applied for a cheque, please be patient.

A quick update...

After I received my first cheque, I requested one more and this time it reached me within 7 days (*surprisingly*). So more than anything I think it's Indian Postal Service which is to look out for ;)

I requested a check withdrawal from my paypal account.

Got a conversion rate of

1 USD = 42.5267 INR

Feb 9 = Requsted Withdrawal
Feb 15 = Check Issued
Feb 26 = Check Received.

The check is payable in all citibank branches in India. Unlike a google adsense check which takes approx 21 working days to get credited in your account, paypal checks get credit in 3 working days :-)

Our company has now started using Paypal as primary ecomm needs. In last one month we have withdraw about USD 1500 in two parts. The only complain here is the rate they offer is about 1.5 rupee less than any other commercial remittance company offers i.e. direct loss of about Rs. 2500 (About USD 58) from the transfer. So actually we calculate it cost us 5 + 5 + 58 = USD 68

When we contacted Paypal they explain the procedure like we can get better rate only for bigger amounts as xx and yy procedures etc. Not convinced though but its nice now we can withdraw from Paypal.

A new update..The last withdrawl from paypal took 17 days to reach the check to us. The first was 7 days. Paypal account says check created on 20th Feb but the check we received has 24th Feb as issue date.

Check payment facility is good however I guess the payments are processed in Sweden. I also noticed the difference in exchange rates. I guess there is no other alternative till they start wire transfers.

I ordered a withdrawl by check 13 days ago, i.e. on 5th May 2005 and am waiting. One guy got his check in 24 days, so I am not so worried. 35 letters per address is very low, Paypal should change it!

Just in case I never get the check, will they credit my $245 to my Paypal back again or will I lose it?

Hopefully if someone has not encashed the check you will not lose it. You can ask paypal to do a stop payment and with a $ 15 charge you will get the amount credited back to your account.

Yeh i requested a check about 2 and a half months back but still no check . I asked pay pal about that and they did reply but after 18 days lol .

Now that i have asked them to return back the money to my account i am still waiting almost 15 days now.

I guess that paypal customer service is not up to the mark

I post a query and they reply back after 7 days stating something like:
If you query is not solved, please contact us at so and so phone number.

Isn't this rubbish? But if I get my check, I would love paypal very much ;)

I got my check in 14 days! I am lucky I guess! And this is the first payment that I received. Am so happy!

Now I like Paypal very much and do not care about customer service. Thanks Paypal! I do not care the $5 fee you took, I just got my $245 instead of $250, who cares of the $5? I do not.

And yes I live in India, so Paypal works for Indians just fine.

Yes untill or unless you get you your check every thing seems okay...but am still worried my check was issued in 15th April still no news :(

and with regards to customer service..i have heard it has been outsourced to india :) and you know we indians are known to be lazy

So its been over 40 days without getting your check? Damn! I think you should get the money credited to your account again after paying $15 as someone mentionted above and then withdrawing it again. Make sure your address is correct!

Just note that my check came via ordinary post and not through any courier serice. (If it maybe of some use to you)

I got my earlier check safely after like 25 days from requesting.i shall be waiting more like till 25th then i would try to request that refund

i dont know if the refund will take place as i read it some where on paypal that checks cant be cancelled

have some one of you got check cancelled like this paying $15 fees

My first chk got to me in 12 day, but now its been really long, that got me worried. I guess we all are in the same boat.

Paypal checks can be cancelled and they have a cancelation fee. They have not mentioed that fee in the site but have mentioned about cancellation in the help questions.

I wish PayPal can give me EFT in India somehow.

Did anyone get a check thru courier?

Checks are sent through ordinary post and paypal has no EFT for india as if now.
