This is interesting (to UK ecommerce people)... If you look to buy items on Amazon.co.uk, there's an option to buy VAT free from Amazon Jersey, This seems to be because Jersey not subject to EU tax rules?

Makes price much more attractive. I don't see this option on every product but in DVD section look for 'That Peter Kay Thing' Price is £12.99 from Amazon.co.uk OR £11.25 from Amazon Jersey......

If this takes off they will have quite a price advantage over uk (&EU) based retailers.

If it works like osCommerce the tax is dependent on where the buyer lives. Non-EU countries pay no VAT automatically (if you set up zones OK)...

If Amazon stick on a customs label declaration - you may need to pay VAT to the courier on delivery.

It says on the Amazon website:

However, there are special tax and customs regulations that exempt deliveries of 'low value' goods (goods with a total value below GBP 18) from import VAT.

Interestingly, they don't offer their Super Saver delivery on purchases from Jersey. After a quick look, you don't seen to save much in comparision to a standard order with the free delivery option.
