Can someone recommend a good cgi script?

Can anyone suggest a good cgi based script or a service to get site statistics. My father has just hired a company to increase his web traffic and his placement ranking among search engines. He says the company will include statistical results as well but it would be nice to also have a little script running on the server to watch the progress.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

For your statistics try Counted.com
I use it on a couple different sites. The stats it gives you back are very indepth and best of all it is free. It will even tell you what keywords people are using to find your site and on which page of the search you show up on for each keyword. If you do use their free service you just have to display a small icon for their comany on your site. I would recommed removing the ALT tag that comes with it. Some times it can end up in search engines.

For more indepth stats on your SE postitioning you should check out Web Postition Gold.

The ones noted above are off site and track via link or image included in your pages. I much prefer not to use third party sites, a better solution is a program that runs on your server as a cgi, using log files. (a site search here for log analyser will suggest several) If he has hired a reputable SEO I would let them furnish the statistics.
