First of all need the sofware but already exploring a few avenues for that (thanks Essex Boy).
Also
After a customer has placed an order for goods is it allowed to have the details (credit card) sent through the site to yourself via email and then just use a normal merchant machine? to process the payment.or what is the best method...
Is this legal?...are there any laws etc?
Thanks
Tim
As far as keying in the CC information into your POS terminal check with your merchant account provider (MAP) to see what they say. Some places tack on extra charges because keying in the credit card number is riskier for chargeback purposes. It might mean that you never see the credit card, etc. And since you did not swipe it - you could not verify that you actually compared the CC & the identity of the person.

I would go with Essex Boys recommendation and use Mals E-Comm; we initially started our e-business using this.
All you need to do is build a site and add the Buy Now links using the Mals code; it’s very easy to do.
Once set up and orders come through you just log on to Mals and download them, all credit card/address info is on screen, we used to just print it off and enter the details into our PDQ terminal in store.
We use Barclay’s merchant services and they were aware we were doing this, and seemed quite happy.
We have since moved to a database driven site but still use Mals as it integrates well with our new EPDQ software that does live processing.
Not sure on the law regarding keeping credit card details on file, maybe someone else can clarify that for you.
Karl :)
they all have the features you required, I will further customize it to meet your needs
