Which payment processor to use

Hello,

I am looking into setting up a payment processing solution for a site I've developed. The site is for an annual convention and my client wants to handle pre-registration (MC, Visa, and AmEx)starting in August and running up until December when the convention is held. We have decided that we will purchase a secure certificate so the processing can be handled on our site. My question is which payment processor would work best for us? Since we won't be using the processing from January until August it doesn't make sense to have a high monthly fee for the processor. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I am also wondering who is the best processor... and also where to get a merchant account.

I found ECHO seems to be a good company and do both merchant account AND processing. but I am not sure.

I am in the US and use NPC (http://www.npc.net/default.htm)for merchant account and Authorize.net for online processing.

I've been using Verisign's Payflowpro processing, and haven't had any problems so far. I don't know it compares in price to other services, but it's not bad.

I use Costco for a Merchant Account and Authorize.net for online processing.

I think it is the best deal... If there is something cheaper please post... I looked hard.

I have to agree with Lisa.

I use Authorize.net also and looked hard. Seem to have the best rep as well...

Been happy with them thus far, and I have been around with other merchant systems before. Never a problem with Authorize.net.
