Hello,

I am a non-US, non- EU based merchant, currently using 2checkout.com for credit card processing. Despite many comments on the contrary, I have found them pretty reliable and easy to deal with. However, I would like to have a backup processor, in case of extensive DDOS
attack or sudden change of rules for international merchants (I am talking from experience here - I used to have paysystems.com as my processor, until they suddenly closed down access to internationl merchants, which cost me pretty penny, because I was unable to accept payments for several weeks)
I am not opposed to having an actual merchant account, but it doesn't seem possible with the following requirements:

- (a single) product sold is software (both CD and download
- need to be able to settle to non-US bank (do not have / do not want US business account)
- need to accept Visa /MC / AMEXP / Discover /echecks
- am willing to pay relatively high discount fees (i.e. 5%)
- need to be able to process $30K+ monthly.
- would like to have a simple html setup for a single "buy" button; no shopping cart required

2checkout.com can do all of the above. If you know of another processor with similar capabilities, I am all ears.

I'll start with the obvious:

Paypal?

Since WebmasterWorld is accepting pre-payment for the conference from people all over the world and add Ebay as another example, I'm just wondering why Paypal wouldn't work?

Having Paypal as only payment option looks very unprofessional to most customers. In the past when I was offering direct CC processing and paypal, I was getting only 20% of orders through paypal.
When I was stuck with only paypal (not my own choice) I lost almost 80% of orders, I know that this is a only a matter of (incorrect) perception - but in most customer's eyes 2checkout.com is indistiguishable from an actual merchant account, while paypal is percieved as amateurish

I agree, but the poster was looking for a 'back-up' or 'plan B'. I still think Paypal is a viable plan B.

He could always exchange the paypal .gif with his own Visa/Mastercard .gif couldn't he? (Sorry if I assumed the wrong gender!)

Thanks for the Paypal suggestion, but I already have it - similar experience - huge drop in orders, when relying on it as a sole method of payment (and I even replaced their gif with standard CC logo; it resulted in small improvement).
Anything else? Can't believe that 2checkout.com is so unique.

Thanks for the KAGI suggestion. I will try them out. They are on the high side as far as fees go, but I liked what I read so far

Kagi have been around for aeons, and have an unblemished record as far as honesty etc. goes.
They have reasonably good customer service and a users' mailing list that management joins in on (unlike 2co, who are just fxxcking arrogant and unresponsive, Kagi staff actually give the impression they care).
The downside I found over the years is that management also build and operate the 'systems' and sometimes they can be clunky, but I think for your purposes you'd be very satisfied.
One thing for sure with Kagi, you would NEVER have to worry about getting your money.
