Hello all,

This is my first time in this forum. I must say... I am impress by how resourceful this place is for me.

Currently, I am using Worldpay to operate my online payments, but due to recent changes within their policies. I was demanded to make changes to my website or else, facing with cancellation to my contact, which was very threatening.

So, I am here asking for recommendation. What is a good replacement for Worldpay that has a good fraud protections implementation for merchants and good technical support.

I have heard horror stories about Authorize.net being down often. Any other places that I should be advise of....

Please share your experience with me.

Many Thanks!

Matt

Hi,

Try PROTX www.protx.com - no transaction charges just a monthly fee.
These are very professional and work well for us.
Good luck!

Where are you based Matt?

I think Authorise.Net is limited to the US (possible more broadly North American) based merchants but I might be wrong - either way when I looked at them they certainly weren't applicable to me in the UK.

If you happen to be UK based then the answer is that apart from using 3PPP (3rd-Party Payment Providers) such as Paypal or Nochex, then you really need to set yourself up with a Merchant account from one of about 5 providers (plus Amex + Diners Card if you wish to support those) and then find an Internet gateway provider that provides the interface between your store and your merchant bank (SECPay and Protx are frequently used players).

My solution is based on Bank of Scotland and Protx.

Cheers... adam.

Then you probably have a lot more choice than us outside of the USA. I shall bow down and let some of your fellow citizens advise.

To aid comment you might want to suggest what you are seeking - ie minimal monthly / set-up fees but higher per transaction costs, or vice-versa. Do you want funds to be transferred to your account straight away or are you happy waiting 30 or more days, etc, etc.

You sometimes have no choice as a new business hottyboy as most banks will only except deferred payments until you have proved yourself, this can be deferred for 1 to 3 months depending on your industry.
Or you could make a mate of your bank manager, say over an expensive dinner :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for all of your helpful inputs. I was looking into Bank of America Merchant services for Internet commerce to replace my Worldpay service.

Bank of America uses CyberSource payment gateway. How is CyberSource gateway compared with worldpay gateway? Any suggestion?

As you may all notice, Worldpay was attacked and it hurts my business. Is Bank of America more secure than Worldpay?

Thank you in advance!

Depends on what you want to pay.
As i say protx does not charge any transaction fees - see below from the protx website.

There are two pricing packages which are driven by your website's authorised transaction volume. Protx do not charge for unauthorised transactions, nor include them in our volume calculations.

Whichever package is appropriate for you, there are:

no set up or integration fees
no annual subscription charges
no additional charges for different payment cards
no additional charges for Verified by Visa
no fees for multiple currencies
no fees for additional terminal IDs
no percentage transaction fees
no additional charges for MasterCard Secure Code

the small business service
For customers who process less than 1,000 transactions per quarter, the small business service offers the simplest and most affordable pricing package in the UK.

Small business users are charged £20 fixed fee per month (exclusive of VAT) with NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES WHATSOEVER!

You are NOT charged transaction fees, irrespective of the value of the transaction or the number you do. If your site does more than 1,000 transactions per quarter you will be moved across to the corporate payment service in the following quarter. There will be no retrospective charges if your account is migrated.

the corporate payment service
All customers who process 1,000 transactions or more per quarter, are automatically included in the corporate payment service scheme.

Corporate customers pay 10p per transaction (exclusive of VAT) with NO ADDITIONAL TRANSACTION CHARGES!

The minimum transaction level for corporate users is 200 transactions per month, so if your volume falls below that, you will still be charged £20. If your volume remains below 1,000 per quarter, you will be automatically moved over to the small business service in the following quarter.

> You are NOT charged transaction fees

Not by ProTx, but you are by the merchant account you need to set up with the bank.

With ProTx, there are two sets of fees (ProTx and the merchant bank) with WorldPay there is one (WorldPay) or two (WorldPay and the merchant bank) depending on how you are set up.

I agree but overall worldpays transactions can be really high and if you weigh this up protx are still the cheapest if you pay the bank say 2.50% per trans which is what we pay.

Another vote for Protx here. Very reasonable charges are reliable service from them.
