Is anyone using the shopping cart SoftCart from Mercantec? If so have you had any SEO problems or issues?

We are currently optimizing the site that is using SoftCart and have created static pages for the products we want to promote. The pages are indexed in Google however not ranking well if at all. Has anyone seen this when using the SoftCart shopping cart or do you think its another issue in general?

The problem with softcart is that you can't get rid of the cgi-bin part of the url. This never used to be an issue as the "static" unparsed SOftCart pages would never appear in the index.

I assume you using a Javascript redirect to push people into the cgi-bin/ parsed pages? If you are then this might be a problem. G has become more Javascript aware and may well be following your redirects.

I would advise moving away from SoftCart. IMHO it's obsolete.
