Is PayPal the End-all of online payment solution?

Why do you need other systems?

If I just use PayPal as my online payment solution, do I need other 3rd-party payment systems such as authoriz.net?

Why are there so many online stores use several online payment systems on their site?

Thanks.

The more forms of payment options you have availbale, the greater the conversion rates.

First and foremost any serious site will have multiple payment solutions so they are covered incase their primary choice is either down or unavailable. Having multiple payment solutions also allows the customer more choice, rather than just forcing them to go with the system you prefer.

Why not rely totally on Paypal? Well some people simply wont or cant use paypal, either for technical reasons, purely on principle based on past experience, or they are simply uncomfortable spending more than a certain amount with them.

When you encounter these people (and you will sooner or later) without an alternate payment system you'll find yourself losing customers.

There's also something reassuring about dealing with a company who are able to use a credit card processor, what with all the checks and so on associated with setting up payment processing.

Greetings, jimpoo

Paypal is by far the most popular online payment processor. People are more likely to have a PayPal account, than a YowCow to give an example. Customers tend to understand Paypal a lot better.

In the past couple of months, Paypal has been under a lot of fire. They have been accused of fraud, and money other charges. Some people have grown not to trust the security of Paypal. This is when another payment processor comes in handy on your site. If you only accept Paypal and someone does not feel comfortable using them, they may decide not to order from your website.

Customers may also not want to have to sign up for Paypal, in order to pay you. Even though Paypal has a new feature that allows customers not to sign up to it, this only works in the US.

I would recommend you have on your site:
-Paypal
-A different processor that does not make you sign up, like 2CO (they have been having a lot of hacking lately), ccavenue, and others.

I hope this helps, and have a great day!

Having PayPal as your only processor will definitely affect conversions in a substantial manner.

1. There is a credibility problem - accepting PayPal only implies a micro flea-sized business in the eyes of consumers.

2. Tedious signing up process - for orders originating outside the US.

Its best to give people a choice, but how you present it also matters. Most buyers on my site use paypal but a growing percentage now use my alternative payment processor (paymate express). It gives them a way of paying without registering with paypal, which many people seem reluctant to do. Next to the paypal buy buttons I have put links to "other payment methods if you prefer not to use paypal"

If you are selling a legal product and have credit that's not totally terrible, there's no reason to use anything other than your own merchant account. Let your customers buy directly from you.

Agree. adding: down or unavailable or you have a dispute with them.

Until recently people needed to leave their information in a "paypal account" in order to provide a visa/mastercard through their network. This turned customers away.

Now you can use paypal as a "card processer".
