In trying to do a business plan, I'd like to be able to see any research that has been carried out in terms of current sales transactions online, vs numbers of computers/broadband out there, and also expected increases in sales transactions over the next year/two years etc. It would be even better if this was broken down into categories/products.

Is there anywhere to find out where ecommerce is expected to be in the future?

I don't think I've explained this very well, it's just that everyone says it's a growing market, i just want to see some figures.

thanks Essex boy, but had a look there and can't see much about the future, just lots of articles re companies/news. no research.

Probably just me, but did you managed to find anything?

Have you tried the university of Essex? they have a special IT department for ecom only. While they may not be able to give you the stats I bet someone there would be able to show you the way.

I think I've seen that Jupiter Research has this kind of reports, but they are soooo expensive like thousands of dollars per copy. But you can try to go to some other research websites that publish the *summary* of the findings. I used them a lot in the past, now I can't even remember the names. (See how important it is to pick an easy-to-remember domain name?)
