I have heard of someone sending out newsletters via email, but instead of sending an HTML or Plain Text message they sent a link which pointed to an HTML version of the newsletter.

Has anyone else done this? Is this as good as doing a regular plain text newsletter or an HTML newsletter?

I would like to hear your comments!

In my opinion, you can only do this if your newsletter already has an established reputation. It's hard enough getting people to open the email. Getting them to click a link is even more difficult.

I could see including a link to the html version of the newsletter for people that get the text version.
