I have a translation company in Canada. Recently many clients have asked me whether they could get a real time quote online and then pay and send the documents to us for translation (instead of calling us and email the documents). My question is: do I need to have a database driven section to handle this, or some kind of CGI script will do the job (in figuring out how much things cost)? I was thinking of using a form to ask clients fill out how many pages/words, then the computer can look up a table with languages and prices, then come back with a price for the client. I then will have an option for the client to upload the file to us. What do you think? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I know what you mean about the flexibility needed to provide a good quote. My problem is, we are spending a lot of time writing quotes and it seems that process can be streamlined. I would say 90% of the quotes are based on our standard pricing guidelines. We just need to put something in place on the web so that it speeds up the transaction process.
