I am thinking of creating a very small direct mail 'special offers' self mailer (single sheet tri-fold) for a niche industry. The printout would contain various ads for this industry and would be completely free to the subscribers. The revenue would come from selling the ads. My question is how to build a direct mail list. Are purchasing targeted direct mail leads a great way to build a responsive list?

Hi Tomld2

There are a number of list brokers and managers out there where you can buy or rent lists of recipients. One word of advice though, I have found it useful if you are only a relatively small mailer, say 200,000 pieces a year or less, to locate one broker and give him or her all of your business as the broker has the opportunity to learn more about your business and the lists that best serve your needs.

Has anyone purchased direct mail leads and send out an offline advertisement pitching an online product/service? I am extremely interested in hearing of the results.
