I wonder if anybody has installed VbV and MasterSecure for Worldpay? Has it affected conversions?
Can anybody tell me how it works in practice. Are shoppers who have a VbV no. forced to input the security no. If they choose not to, will the transaction still go ahead?
Although it has been mentioned that Visa will also guarantee transaction not made by VbV, I cannot see this in Worldpay terms and conditions for VbV and I doubt this would apply.
Any input in this matter would be appreciated.
Derek
VbV will eliminate the fraudulent trx. It will allow to accept false-positives.
You may incur some abandonement if your customer isn't properly informed on your site. Only enrolled cardholders are prompted for a pin. Non-enrolled cards continue checkout as is, seeing nothing, fully protected. Pre-enrolled cards have been contacted by their bank to enroll by phone, mail, email, and in their statements. If they shop on your website they may be asked to enroll, but the checkout is finished. They can decline everytime and you are still protected.
If it fails VbV you lose the sail and must prompt them for a new form of payment.
Would VbV also cover credit cards issued by banks that are not enrolled in VbV.
Concerning the Worldpay guarantee, I received an e-mail from Worldpay yesterday that they will be withdrawing the service from 23rd August onwards because of low demand. However, I am not sure whether or nor this applies only to the Asia-Pacific region.
That's right: if you went to a store and forgot how to sign your signature the same thing would happen.

VbV merchant protection from chargebacks only applies to transactions where VbV has been used. Non-VbV transactions are still rendering the merchant liable for chargebacks and related costs.

In the previous versions if you forgot your password there would be no way for you to remember it. Visa has now mandated a four try minimum with banks. They also maintain that you must be given a "reminder" option or "forgot password" which prompts a predetermined reminder established by you at enrollment. But if you still forget it VbV wouldn't authenticate.
All consumer issued Visa cards are covered regardless of cardholder enrollment and bank participation. This is one of the common misunderstanding with merchants. The only Visa transactions that aren't covered are business cards and anonymous gift cards.
From what I can gather by reading this, is it where people put their pin in as well as their card details etc (like fish and chips (i mean chip and pin)).
Also is this going to be mandatory, so all WP customers will ahve to implement it.
ANy help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks, this is really what I need to know, but nowhere in Worldpay's description of VbV did they metion this. I will have to check with them. Worldpay had previously told me that it would take 6 weeks to implement the system. They do not have enough information from their customers yet to tell whether it had affected their conversion rate.
However, there is something I am worried about. I have had this credit card account for over 6 years. I never enrolled in the VbV system yet they sent a VbV pin to me. It looks like that the bank has compulsorily enrolled all their credit card account holders into VbV. Since I never enrolled voluntarily, I would not have left some phrase to prompt me for my password. Therefore, I am quite sure that VbV would have some effect on conversions.
From the merchant point for view, I would have preferred a system which would have allowed a customer's transaction to go through without inputting the correct PIN. Of course, that transaction would not be covered but at least we have a choice.
I will look at this issue carefully. In the end I may have no choice since we are about to carry some very hot high value items.
