Site designed but hosting elsewhere

I'm getting a site designed but I'd like it hosted with a separate hosting company. The site is an e-commerce site. What issues should I be aware of ahead of time to make sure I don't get burned?

Try this in Google:
site:www.webmasterworld.com "hosting problem"
site:www.webmasterworld.com "host problem"

Or stuff like that.

Make sure the hosting you choose has the following features:
SSL Availible (either shared or dedicated)
SQL, MySQL, MSSQL, or Access (whatever your site uses)
ASP, .Net, PHP, Perl, or ColdFusion (whatever your site uses)
24x7x365 Support and 99.99% Uptime.

If you sticky me the specs of your site I can probably suggest a good host.

Thank you for the responses. I'm concerned with shopping cart issues, merchant account issues when designing the site, etc. I just wanted to know if there is any customization a web designer must do when setting up an e-commerce site.
