Home page used to be a list of stuff up for auction. Now there's some kind of intro. Also, my editor kit javascript includes are broken.

Maybe what you're seeing is the page that eBay displays to new users. If eBay can't find a cookie that it set then it gives you a "Welcome to eBay, here's how to sign up" screen for the front page. That can happen if you recently erased your cookies, or if you're using a different browser than normal (and thus have no cookie set with it). Do you think this is it, or are you seeing something different?

Yeah, that is their "new and improved" MyEbay 2.0. It's crap if you ask me.

Not to mention they are also switching to a new billing software which has caused errors in hundreds (maybe thousands) of members accounts, including mine. I had to write the President of Ebay USA Operations in order for them to post my payments from March. And I payed them with PayPal! They own PayPal! But I digress...

My thoughts on the "new" Ebay; it should have gone through a longer beta to work out the bugs. I haven't used it since the upgrade and probably won't for a few months until it's all ironed out.

I just checked. I'm signed in and I'm still getting the new "Find, Buy, Pay" screen. Seems like a bad idea to me -- too much like a splash page (although I know it's not; it just seems more effective to start with a list of items and categories, but hey what do I know).

Arggh why do I always have a diffrent opinion to everyone?

I quite liked this, I can track my sales etc far more easily and quickly than before, Im not having any trouble, but then again Im not the most sophisticated user out there.

the system changed some time in May.

I think you guys are talking about two different things.

HughMungus is referring to seeing an alternative version of the eBay home page, and netscan is talking about the new "My eBay" page. Or so it appears that's what everyone is talking about.

Anyway, I've seen that alternate home page and I quite like it. But right now I just got the regular home page with the lists of products, brands, featured items, etc.

Essex_boy, I also like the new My Ebay -- particularly the ability to see how many people are "watching" my items and some of the other reporting they're doing.

I don't mind the new look, or functions of the My Ebay page, what I do not like is their implementation. They should have tested the system longer before a full rollout. I think it was only in beta for 2 months, maybe a little longer, in either case they rushed it. IMHO of course :)

RE: the home page, if you are not cookied, you'll get a different page than if you are cookied. The uncookied page is designed for first time users.

Regarding the new My eBay, I wasn't sure if I liked it at first until I found the "eBay Preferences" in the "My Account" section which let you select which page you want My eBay to default to. There are some other cool new features as well.

Even if I'm already signed in to "My Ebay"? Seems weird. Oh well, just curious. I'm sure ebay knows what it's doing.
