what do you think of them?

I am considering using 2CO as my credit card processor, because I do not like PayPal very much. 2CO's shopping cart seems very user friendly. The only problem I see is, the high rates:
------------------------------------------------------
One-time set up fee of $49.

2CO receives a wholesale rate discount of 5.5% plus $0.45 off the retail price of each total order.
------------------------------------------------------
With 2CO, users do not have to sign up to buy, which is a feature I like. With PayPal, you must sign up. Has anyone used both 2CO and PayPal? Which one do you like better? Thanks!

They're the only option out there that I know of that gives you a certain amount of control over the Look and Feel of the checkout process.

They are a bit buggy though, so expect to lose customers when 2checkout abandons them for no reason.

don't think buyers have to sign up to use PayPal any more - this has been changed.

have you investigated Kagi? You can change the look and feel of your store with them - lower rates than 2CO.
There are many more than just 2CO and Kagi.

Hava look at some listings at
online-payment-processing.com

Yeah I wouldn't really say Kagi is in the same class as 2co / paypal. If someone migrates from 2co to kagi, please let me know.

Perhaps you could sticky me a link to your checkout page as well..

Bo- AFAIK, the sign up is still necessary for non-US customers.

Kagi rates appear to be from 10% to 17%. Not low in my country, Dude.

WorldPay allow almost complete control. Custom headers and footers, plus you can alter almost any text (except for any legally required text), change all the colours and fonts and even over-ride their own graphics. You can upload files to their server in order to have everything on a secure server - so you do not need a secure server set up.

They have a higher set up fee than 2checkout, but lower fees. If you turn over enough money, it could work out cheaper in the long run.

You may want to try out Yowcow, you don;t have to sign up to buy. Except if you sign up for a subscription or recurring payment. Its also cheaper than PayPal.

New site, start with 2Checkout - much lower startup fees than Worldpay. If and when your business increases - then "upgrade" to Worldpay. Simple! ;)

I use both 2CO and PayPal and I think PayPal is FAR superior. Here's why:

1. Neither have great tech. support, but PayPal has good tech. documentation and a good community site for developers. 2CO's support is horrible, their online vendor management area is almost impossible to navigate, and their documentation is practically non-existant. I spent two weeks trying to get some help out of their tech. support people only to later find the problem was caused by a straighforward limitation of their program that was simply not documented.
2. PayPal has lower rates
3. PayPal shows my business name on the CC statement
4. PayPal is aggressively adding features
5. PayPal is well-recognized

In my experience, the only thing 2CO has going for it is greater order page customization.

2CO:

Started in November took until March to send me teh 1st cheque despite having said it was on its way tons of times.

Spent $75 on their ATM card to speed up the process only to find it work i.e I couldnt register it on their site.

Have been hit with several DOS attacks.

So to sum I liked 2CO's backend functions, but didnt like thw lack speed in processing payments.

Try them and see what you think.

Has anyone used the new payment terms of 2CO allowing for bank wire transfers in EURO? I tried to get from them orientation on the exchange rate used for converting USD to EUR but they seem to treat this like classified information.

I signed up with 2CO in late 11/03 and finally integrated a site with their backend two months later. The first day that I took the system live was great with 10 orders. Then, they closed the account! I wasn't able to login to their site and it didn't display any error messages. I sent them several emails for support but didn't receive a single reply in 24 hours. Finally I called and on the phone a rep explained that that 2CO doesn't do business with sites like mine (despite several sites that do and also no mention of this policy in the TOS).

I can understand that they might choose not to do business with my company. However, they should have made that determination during my signup or during the first two months I was with them NOT on the first day of processing orders. Also, the manner in which my account was closed was unprofessional and detrimental to both my business and to my clients.

YEs I agree upside - I have heard similar stories. Why not give the person a couple of days, a week, to find alternative processor rather than that nonsense way of behaving.

upside , some thing happened to me this month. I lost $ 3000. I dont feel sad about money, but I am sorry about the time I wasted with them.
We are an offshore company and We could not find any CC processor for us, because our location...they seem OK, but they suck.... lot of bugs.

Attention well-funded entrepreneurs: the market is BEGGING for a decent alternative to PayPal. The market is proven, growing, and the competitive bar is set very low. Build it and we will come. Bring the laws of natural selection to bear on the likes of 2CO and ye shall be rewarded!

Couldn't agree more - huge money to be made, real opportunity for an ex-bank or card merchant 'johnny'.
