I have an online store that sends out a confirmation e-mail to the customer when they make an order from the site and recently I've been having Hotmail users phoning up asking whether or not we received their order as they didn't get a confirmation e-mail like they used to with us. On closer examination of these cases it would appear that the Hotmail spam filter is picking up these messages and moving them to the junk mail folder.

Obviously this isn't spam as it is requested (and I believe an obligation when it comes to online shopping) to send a confirmation to the customer. Is there an address for Hotmail that I can write to in order to get these e-mails unblocked for future orders.

Rather annoyingly it is also blocking a OPT-IN mailing list that we have running so customers who requested to hear about special offers aren't receiving these mails. If I was spamming with this list I could understand but it is bi-weekly and completely opt in with the option to remove at any time.

If anyone could shed some light I would be most appreciative.

I assume the site in question is the one in your profile. Are the confirmation emails being sent from the server where the site is hosted? Send me a StickyMail if you don't want to discuss the inner workings of you site in the open forum, I'll do what I can to help.
