I currently do have Cardservice Linkpoint with $ 25 chargeback fee. We do sell downloable products and we are looking for merchant account with chargeback fee $10 - $ 15. Does it exist?

You can request them to lower it, but why do you have so many chargebacks? This could be detrimental to your merchant account processing history & it might cause them or another processor to raise your discount rates.

You should be considering ways to lower those chargebacks to nothing. Do you get a lot of I didn't do its? Consider getting Verified by Visa - that will get rid of that problem.

If charge back is really a big problem, which it shouldn't be at first place, consider switching to PayPal. Normally they absorb all charge backs and in case they don't, they charge you $10.

It is the problem, I was along the Cardservice Linkpoint ant their protection was really lousy, even I checked CVV2. I checked IP addresses manually, because they approved IP from India with US name and address :-(
Also we made a lot of refunds, but still got about 2-3 % chargebacks...butlast month was really crazy, I have got 21 chargebacks. It looked weird, because we purchased toll free number and changed it in Linkpoint. But then our customer service line did not get any calls for next 3 weeks, so that is where I do see the problem. People probably did not see our phone number at their statement, so that is why nobody called us to refund money. I always better refund than to be receiving chargebacks. I noticed that problem with our phone number and called to Cardservice and explained them all the situation, but they really did not care, because they charged me $ 25 chargeback fee anyway.

Janny,

Chargebacks again...I remeber you having this problem before.

What Cards are they on?

US cards or International?

Do they pass AVS?

What reason codes are the chargebacks for?

chargebacks just drives me crazy, we do only US sales now. We have AVS and CVV, but it dont matter, it is matches. Well, I just hope, that last month's 21 chargebacks was caused by the phone number problem. Month before I had 11 chargebacks.

I just find out at the Linkpoint, that they changed one number in my phone, so it was incorect. We do sell email lists and other marketing databases. I stoped doing that last month, because the cost of chargebacks was rising and we wanted setup whole thing offshore. What are we trying to do now.
I think, that all chargebacks reasons were Fraudelant transcaction.

You got to use someone who uses good negative data bases (Cybersource and SG are good examples) in processing and on top You can also use: MyVirtualCard.com technology or GeoTrust True Identity.

This must help You out a lot.

If high risk dudes can stay at 1% chargeback rate do You think You cant?

Well, as always, these threads end up getting spammed by various affiliates and/or ecom sites that process cc's.

Sorry, we don't know of any way to keep them out.

Janny,

You need to be running VbV and SecureCode if all of these chargebacks are for fraudlent reason codes. You will eliminate all your Visa chargebacks. This should be a no brainer for you. The chargebacks fees issued from your bank will be elimintaed also through these programs, that savings alone, not to mention lost merchnadise, time, and payment should be reason enough to start running these programs.

I can recommend an excellent vendor.

Hey, I did post a link to a low-cost low-chargeback credit card processor, but I have no affiliation with them and am not a spammer!

In fact, in another thread, I am asking about e-commerce hosts and software and was hoping to get links (and people did post links).

So what are the rules? If someone asks, should I post a link to something if I know of one that matches what's being asked for or not?

Hi psage - it is my understanding that you can post links to places you have no affiliation with. (I might be wrong).

But I still say - everyone is missing the main point: you need to reduce the chargebacks. If you do not - you run the risk of losing your merchant account. And then you have to find another one. Once you have lost a merchant account - especially due to a high chargeback ratio, it will almost become impossible to find someone or you will have to have a high reserve.

For example, we were dealing with someone whose chargeback was about 1.5%. The processor dropped him. Granted - he was doing about $1 million a year. We found someone to help him, but his reserve was $20,000 for at least 6 months.

Great point Corey,

Janny you may have a very large problem ahead of you if you don't do something immediately. Since I came to this forum you have had chargeback problems. I think your only option is VbV, its really the only way out of a severe chargeback problem.
