Anyone already selling ebook's / PDF’s have advice in terms of the best way to automate the sales process from website download scripts, security, collecting payments, tracking sales, affiliates…etc.

Thanks

Also, I would prefer your experience with a php solution for the scripting part…

You have to check out www.MediaPal.com for all this distribution stuff.

It really solves everything.

Thanks linuxhead, have you personally used this service? They have an interesting model that I guess could for pdfs or ebooks. Just wondering how they bill your client… is the charge from you or them and/or their distribution channel?

Hey,

Yes...a very cool service.

They bill your customer directly..and then send you your money.

The only technology/solution I have seen like this to be honest.

Try Synergyx at [synergyx.com...]

We've used it extensively for ebook fulfilment where I work. Not only is the software useful and easy to tweak with basic programming/CGI/HTML skills, Paul Galloway was also extremely helpful during the installation process.

Thanks James, is the credit card processing and downloads automatic with that script? Looks like payments for you are with worldpay.

If you need in-site software, why not try oscommerce, #1 open source e-biz software.

ebizcamp, I’ve heard of oscommerce as a shopping cart but never thought of it for downloads. Do you use it for selling digital goods? Any drawbacks? Does it automatically delivery the digital product to the shopper?

The method I hope to learn is the one I found best as a buyer of ebooks. A library or bookshelf setup where as soon as the payment is processed the buyer is directed to a download page that includes all of the books bought, not just the current purchase.

So far my search for how-to info has been interesting but not successful. I started with ebook bookshelf and have progressed to digital fulfilment (which is how I found this board.)

We use PayPal for payments and are considering the related company but it seems to be just buy, deliver and that's it, not a continuing access.

Also, most of the solutions are on other sites, not ours.

Still looking. Will post if I find anything you might find useful

Sorry for late reply. OSC can be used to sell either tangible or intangible goods. To enable digital goods download, just follow this:

You can use clickbank with their key generation utility. It pretty much prevents "theft by going directly to the download page."
