CafePress and similar services

Anyone used CafePress, is there something better?

Hi :) I help out on a music information site whose only source of income is Google AdSense. We'd like to offer a few items with our logo for sale (i.e. t-shirts, mugs, mouse pads, etc.) We have some very loyal users that we think would enjoy buying these items and we could use a few more dollars to cover hosting! My question is, has anyone ever used www.CafePress.com and are there other options? The base prices on CafePress are very high and we'd prefer lower cost options. Thanks for any input/ideas!

PS- for anyone that isn't familiar, CafePress is an online service that allows you to upload your logo and create a store front on their site. Users order items directly from CafePress (who collect payment, put your logo on the item ordered, and mail it) and you get a small markup from each item. The plus is there's no startup cost and no chance of getting stuck with unsold merchandise.

I've used their service for over a year now and must say that the quality of most of their products is exceptional. Although printing of even high resolution photos on large paper prints leave much to be desired, smaller prints are excellent...'AND they translate pretty well on cloth.

As for their prices, I'd agree, some of them are a bit steep. But for others of their products, pretty reasonable.

Joining such a service would serve you well if you've plenty of graphics art skills.

Note: I've still got one sweatshirt which I designed and purchased months ago. After a number of washes, it hasn't faded and still catches other folks' eyes.

We've used CafePress with good results.

They are expensive. We do not mark up their prices, so it's not a moneymaker for us. Instead we see it as an inexpensive marketing and public relations tool for our community web sites.

For example, we do shirts and hats that link the wearer to the area and have the website name in a minor spot.

If you're going to try to make $$ selling hats, shirts, mugs, etc with logos (and that can be a very good biz if you have rights to use, say, Superman) then there are much more affordable ways to go. That's a very competitive business. Quality varies a lot, as do prices. Get several bids. (Tip: Cheap looks cheap.)

I also use cafepress, they offer a good service, the only downpoint to me is that you can't embed the shop into your own website.

Does anyone know of any service that offers the same thing but with customisable templates?
