Very interesting reading on the forums!
Now to MY questions.
I have a Yahoo store in its infancy...learning the hard way about fraud protection..asking for help or advice from the membership.
Here is the "normal" sequence of events with an order.
Customer places order and I receive:
Customer name
Email address
Shipping/billing address
Phone number
Approval number
Authorization number
AVS authorization (3 step, address, zip, last 4)
Thats it....now I have to decide to process or not.
No features like CVV2, CVC2, VBV, etc.
I have found MANY ways of checking out my "customer",
but have not figured a CHECKLIST, I would like to be able to utilze!
Someone has probably posted a beginners 1,2,3 of WHAT
to do in WHAT order, but I havn't seen it.
Trying to decide if products from providers like CyberSource are worth it....don't need to blow any
$$ I don't HAVE to!
Current merchant account through ipayment.
Long winded I know..sorry! Any and all replies are welcomed!
Thanks, JD
You can start off in Yahoo, but there is a very low ceiling. Most people who use yahoo are just entering the ecommerce enviroment and not very serious about it...eventually they move on. Yahoo doesn't provide much room for growth.
I suggest a baptism by fire. Take a risk...that's the first step towards becoming successfull.
Thanks for the words...but Wow! So blatently AGAINST!
I'm ok with that, just wish I understood a little more
as to WHY you feel that way! Your posts have been among those I have most enjoyed reading in other threads...
Am I naive in believing the Yahoo "hype" about 37% of all internet users use Yahoo, blah, blah, blah?
Also the case made for being within the Yahoo mall
still seems appealing to me at this point. Of course
being new..I am still learning the nuances of..page building, search engine optimization, where to spend
advertising $$, and more importantly where NOT to!
Thanks again...and people keep the advice coming....
I am being a SPONGE right now!

You no longer receive special treatment in Yahoo! Shopping for being a Y! Store merchant, besides the fact you get discounted PPC rates.
As for as the ceiling is low w/ a Yahoo! Store, I would have to disagree. While the they're are heavy limitations on the tech side, you can learn a lot about selling online through running a Y! Store. Just know, if you continue to grow your company you will need to move off of Yahoo.
Thanks...I knew Yahoo was limited on the Tech side (thats what I'm looking to find a way around)and
I also think their PPC is terrible! I have much more sucess with Google ad words and Looksmart.
That said, I'm interested if the forum feels Yahoo store is "too limiting"?
I don't MIND moving if it is going to be beneficial.
I also KNOW that I WILL have to move at somepoint...
in order for my biz to take the NEXT step...
