Yahoo! store and a regular ecomm site

Is there a reason to do both?

Is there any reason you would want to keep both a Yahoo! store and a regular Ecomm site? Especially if you do a datafeed to Yahoo! shopping already?

I'm thinking not, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Any opinions?

Search engine traffic. I know of some sites whose yahoo store gets much better/different placement than their "main" site. But, that probably isn't the case for you if you are asking this.

For now, and possibly some time into the future, Yahoo has heavily weighted sales volume of a particular item, but they can only track this for Yahoo Stores. Yahoo actually had a patent granted a little while back on delivering search results based on sales volume.

So, if this continues to be part of the algorithm, and if you are putting your stuff into Yahoo Shopping for the Yahoo Store as well as for the other site, that's a possible reason.

The other one I can think of is if you have urls of the store.yahoo.com/yourstore format floating around in search engines, you will lose them if you close it (or if you "upgrade" to Merchant Solutions, but that's another issue).
