My brick-n-mortar business was a BBB member and it didn't make a darn bit of difference. As long as you have clear policies on Privacy and Disputes, and stand by them, the membership doesn't make a big difference, IMHO. It's never influenced my buying habits on the Internet.
Just make sure you make it clear to your clients the policies. Build trust. Provide guarantee. Be honest in dealing with them by telling them what is really they are into.
