Now, the fact that Verisign forces the end user to view the receipt on their server, brings us to a fork in the road.
1) Find a new payment gateway
or
2) Upgrade to Payflow Pro (to eliminate the Verisign-hosted pages).
I called Authorize.net. They offered to reduce the normal $299 setup to $99 and a monthly fee of $20. I called Verisign. They told me the upgrade fee to Pro is $250 plus another $40/mo (bringing the total monthly fee to $69). I asked if he could do anything to come within the range of AuthNet's pricing. His response: "Nope, we have a brand name and that's what you're paying for."
So, what payment gateway do you use? How do you like it? Can you POST and get a reply all in one shot (ie: using PHP/CURL) without making the customer go off to another site?

What good does their 'brand name' do when you want the transaction to be transparent to the user anyway? :)

This can be accomplished with authorize.net
