Good eCommerce books?

Trying to get some more good reading material.

Thus far the only good book that I've been able to to find about eCommerce has been "Selling Online" by Carroll and Broadhead. Any other suggestions? Please note that I'm not looking for the "dummies" type of book, I'm quite a bit past that in terms of experience. More looking for some advanced eCommerce and online marketing strategies.

For some odd reason ecomm books or good ones anyway are hard to find.

The best solution I find is to go to end of lines book shop and spend several hours rooting around in there.

But that doesnt really abswer your question, does it.

I'd go for some usability books. Check out Jakob Neilson's usit.com to start out. You can learn some basic conventions to follow that should help improve the customer experience on your site and this should also increase your conversion/sales.

I read The Economics of E-Commerce by Nir Vulkan recently. He is a Fellow of Worcester College Oxford so it's a bit of an 'academic' read but boy did it give me food for thought!

Further to Suka's recommendation to check out Jakob Nielsen, "E-Commerce User Experience" was quite practical for me. I haven't regretted the pricey $138.50; it continues to be a good reference.

Be careful about buying ecommerce books. I once bought one, but some of the information was outdated (according to some people in another Forum) and some of the recommended sites had closed down.

The book was less than three months old at the time. The information can become so quickly outdated. Think about Brett's top 10 ways (was it 10?) to get a good spot on Google. Now Google have a new algo, Brett's post is outdated information that is not as useful as it was at the time it was written. Now, it is just good information - back when it was written it was a "gold dust" thread to many.

So any book you get, read it carefully - including published and updated dates - and don't take everything as gospel from them: things change.
