After many hours again of searching through webmaster world for info on various shopping carts I think I'm ready to purchase digishop.

Think it will fit the following needs:

-Spiders can easily index the pages.
-Will integrate easily with my existing html coded pages.
-Support for many varieties of weights and sizes of products to ship UPS, Fed Ex etc.
-Really easy to set up. No knowledge necessary of php.
-Good product support.

Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong about any of the above? Are there any other negatives I should know about digishop?

Its a bit stiff! I mean $500! Have you emailed their tech support for these answers?

That will also give you a god indication as to their reliabillity in a tight spot.

Yes, it's a little more expensive but the site is already generating income so the extra $400 shouldn't be the deciding factor.

Considered x-cart but I read here that it's hard to configure initially, need some php programming skills and support not good.

If you liked the layout of x-cart, you can try litecommerce from the same company which is easier to handle. Integration onto an existing html site is extremely easy. You just replace the hyperlinks on the addtocart buttons on your existing site to link to the cart. I wouldn't worry about the fact that it is a Russian company. Support has been excellent so far and their English is as good as anybody's.

I've been sitting here for hours searching online about this and there's not alot out there about digishop, however there is alot about x-cart. I'm nervous about x-cart because I read it took a few weeks to set up. Maybe my html pages will integrate easily. I haven't been using mysql database. I'm concerned about the complex shipping configuration I require. I've been looking at the x-cart manual. I need real shipping prices. It looks difficult to set up. Is it?

Thanks again.

Take a look at securenetshop they have a really good hosted shopping cart. I spent hours looking through different shopping carts and nothing was quite what I was looking for. I finally found this one and it was perfect for me. You set up your products and it generates the html for you to put on your site. The shipping lets you charge different shipping rates by country and it does automatic calculation for UPS/FedX/USPS.

We started off with X-cart but then decided that litecommerce suited our needs better, as it would be much easier to integrate litecommerce into our existing websites than x-cart. We are now running 4 websites off the same litecommerce database without any problems.

Therefore we asked the license to be changed from x-cart to litecommerce. We had to communicate with them extensively on technical issues and all were sorted out without any problems. Their standard of English was excellent.

Having said that, litecommerce could cost much more long term especially if you need some custom work done. Also, there are not many other users around who can give you free advice. The shipping options are not as flexible as x-cart but we did get it to work in the end.

My experience is that x-cart itself is not difficult to use provided that you do not modify their rather staid initial designs.

I have used securenetshop too, but they were not that great. Benifits would be easy to use, especialy for a beginner. It is cut and past for html product links.
Their online management was great and had some extra resources once you log in.

It has many limits though.
I did not care for a hosted cart on a different server.(they can be slow at times)
The set up is limited, so do not expect to create it exact to your site, but they do let you use an logo/image under 15K and choose quite a few colors for text and cell.

I have not used their program in several months so I could be inacurate.

I went from securenetshop to salescart. I use the extremely overpriced version, but enjoy everything it had to offer.
Including a built in affiliate tracking.
and many different reports to help you evaluate problems.
I have lots of control over the entire check out proccess because it is a part of a tool that integrates with DW or Frontpage.
Make as many sites as you want
Negative: A liscence works on FP or DW not both. The database it uses depends on the software you bought. I went for the SQL version which is compatible to a windows server with a ms sql server. Tough to find great hosting for cheap.

I think you will be happy with your decision. We use digiSHOP for our clients, as I mentioned earlier and they have had great support for me at least. As a web developer I needed some one who could offer phone support because i am not 100% knowledgable in php and a company who could add any feature I wanted. They could do both. This has saved me time and money, plus has allowed me to offer my clients any bells and whistles they need for their online store and every one of them wants something different :-).
