I was hoping someone had a suggestion for ecommerce software that will run media downloads to customers. Like if a customer orders a book or audio, it will send them a code for download.

If you are hosting on an IIS box (windows server using ASP) you could try Cyberstrong's eShop. We use it for our hardgoods product line, it does have a downloads component built in. The price is excellent, full source (easily modified) and they allow a 30 day trial.

We've been happy with the support and the look and feel of the package.

Click Cart Pro have download functions. When a customer orders a product they are sent a link to a special part of your site with a unique user name/password. Then they download from there.

CCP is very customizable and best of all it is cheap ($99).

I use it but I haven't done the downloads part yet, but this is something I intend to work on in the next couple of weeks.

Take a look at Actinic Audio Store - it works for any downloadable material, and there is a demo. version so you can try it out:
www.actinicaudiostore.com

I must declare an interest because I work for the company that developed it - but it's none the worse for that!
