Anyone else noticed this?

My traffic is down by around 90% today - just a blip? Or a general trend as we approach Xmas?

Not here.

Some sites are being impacted by this being the last physical (non cyber) shopping weekend before Christmas. Many people are out in real stores.

Most of our sites are getting slammed with record highs every day as the panic sets in. The records (here) set last year were around December 17, 2002. Those were shattered on December 1, 2003 and it has been all up since then. I expect it to settle down on the 26th and trail off over the next month or so after that. Then the seasonal rotation effect will take hold and it will be back to BAU.

Essex_boy

seeing a big hit on affiliate sites that I run, visitors around 50% of normal, sales dropped through the floor, though I'm not surprised. I don't expect to see much improvement til the 26th now at the earliest :(

btw Merry Christmas to all @ WebmasterWorld

Yeap. Been down on our main site also. Was going pretty good up until Friday morning. Then, it has been down since Monday morning. A small improvement on Sunday, but not as strong as the weeks before.

Traffic is going to be down until after the new year. Xmas shopping on the net is over for the year and people are too busy with other things to be surfing.

This happens every year, so just relax... ;)

Merry Christmas by the way...

We were on track for a hugely record month through the first 16 days of December. Quite amazing, really.

Then sales just dried up. As did visits. Attribute the drop to the nature of my business (supplies for a niche hobby) coupled with the approaching holidays.

Expecting things to really pick up in January and February, though, as lots of folks are going to get new toys for which we sell supplies!

Traffic down here and sales have stopped dead apart from the very odd one. This is usual though, traffic and sales should increase after Christmas. We just have to endure this pain! ;-)

I usually see a really big spike in Jan. It is almost like people use their holiday money to go buy a computer, or they heard from a friend how great shopping on the web for Christmas was, so then they try it.

I don't sell any products but its a registerations that we offer. We are facing a dip in traffic and registerations, what that can mean?

Piad campaign, nationwide PR, all major partnerships, good rankings, PPC all in full swing.

What may be wrong?

Shaadi, it's the Holiday season. Lots of people are off from work and therefore off of their PC's. Depending on your business type, this could be why traffic is down.

And now a lot of people are done buying for a while too.

I dunno - I thought sales had dried up yesterday, as I had not one single order. Then I get an email from Worldpay this morning saying that 'service has been restored'. What is *that* about? Why don't they let us know that the service has gone down? I have no idea how long it was out for...

Yeah their service is being hit with problems lately, but that another thread altogether.
