As our current website utilises ShopAssistant, which is a little awkward and certainly not search-egine friendly, does anyone have any recommendation for a new payments solution, although we would want to, if at all possible, keep our integration with Netbanx (assuming this to still be a good service?)
Cheers
James
If you've used ShopAssistant then you'll probably find EROL very good. I'm currently using CactuShop, an ASP solution, which has been good but could do with a bit more design flexibility on category and product pages (but then I'm very demanding...). I have to say I never got on well with Actinic in the past but I've seen some pretty nice Actinic stores recently so I'm assuming they've made big improvements.
Outside the UK, but still 'UK compatible' I've recently been playing around with YourVirtualStore (VP-ASP with knobs on) and so far me likey.
Having used both JavaScript and ASP solutions I'm totally hooked on ASP. It's proved SO much more search-engine friendly (despite the received wisdom about dynamic URLs), which has had a real impact for me.
If you fancy PHP there's OSCommerce and X-Cart, both good solutions for a UK store.
It really will depend on your specific needs and criteria, but you've a few good 'uns there to take a look at. AFAIK they should all integrate fine with Netbanx (if that's a 'good service' for you, only you would know). Hope that helps.
EROL is excellent and I used it for quite some time, but the reason I moved is that it just ain't search engine friendly at all, which is a shame. So if that's a priority for you (and who isn't it a priority for...) I would recommend looking at something which outputs straightforward HTML and doesn't require a frameset and five tons of JavaScript in order to function.
