I wanted to know if it were possible to some how add UPC and or ISBN # to my site. In other words, instead of me typing by hand all new products into my site, is it somehow possible to add a feature for where I would be able to just type the UPC or ISBN # in and all of the default values for that unique # would be generated? Kinda like what eBay and Amazon has.

Or is this to difficult of a task to integrate?

Thanks,

Amazon offers an XML interface for developers to re-publish their content. I believe free scripts also exist to automate most of it for you.

Yes, I know this, but I want to do this for our own stuff at our own site. Not via an Amazon affiliate. The stuff we sell are located within our warehouse. So, it would not help if it was via Amazon's affiliate program.

Thanks for the reply though.

The information has to be in a database (somewhere) for it to be pulled onto your site if you just reference it with the UPC or ISBN.

Where did you plan on pulling the information from?

Was going to intergrate it into the database. Therefore, when I type in a UPC or ISBN #, it would pull all of that information from the database. The question is where to get the monthly or weekly feeds of this UPC and ISBN data. Then figuring how big the seperate cluster has to be in order to hold this type of information. Or, if there is some sort of service that provides this information, and then pull the information from them.

May I ask what Category or Industry you are interested? If you are looking for Computer related UPCs, you can sticky me for a source.

Hi,

It would include computer and computer related material, but I wanted to also spread out into other sectors such as general merchandise, movies, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

You can list *your* inventory in an Amazon Marketplace or on half.com by entering ISBN. I don't know about UPC.

I think what he is looking for is some sort of inventory management where when something arrives at the warehouse, it is scanned into the system using the UPC and all information about the product, name, brand, price etc., are input into his system automatically.

I have been looking for something similiar but could not locate a company to provide me with the data information. My personal feeling is that this is a great idea, but it is a little beyond the reach of the small businessman, because of the systems you would need to integrate and the fact you would have to license the data information from some company.
