Howhere do I go about getting and setting up data feeds?

I am thinking about adding a news data feed to our website. Where should I go to find a source for a data feed and how do I go about actually implementing it? Thanks for any info.

I am looking for data feeds in specific categories, maybe like breaking news, sports transactions, etc..

I've seen other sites do this before and was wondering what all has to be done to get one started. And how much a direct feed would cost.

I picture something like a sports ticker or stock ticker going across the site. (except geared toward our specific category that we sell for).
