I hope this is the correct forum for this question.

I have a possible new client asking if I can design a web site that can handle pay to do a one on one chat sessions using Pay Pal. No, it’s not an adult site, but unfortunately the set up looks like it should be the same sort of thing. What I’m looking for is someplace online I could read how to do this kind of set up. I can’t even find a good chat software that can be set up so the customer has to pay before they can enter the one on one chat room. We’ve designed quite a few web sites that do ecommerce before, but this is the first one that needs this kind of features. If anyone has any ideas where I can start looking, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Tom, dont know where to suggest to be honest. Try freelancers.net for programmers wholl know how to set it up.

Bit of an odd one...

I know this is a bit of an odd one, I just hate admitting that I haven't done this type of site setup before. I’m sure I can pick it up, I just need someplace to get started.

If it's one-on-one, why not just verify the paypal payment and start chatting?

Edit: Alternatively, make the paypal payment completion URL a link to the chat room (?)

That's a thought. I'm going to take another look at the Paypal site to see if there are any hints I missed. I still wish I could find some sort of online tutorial that covers this sort of setup.

I use liveservicedesk. It is very easy to customize it. I am sure you could do it.

Using paypal to send your users righ tinto the chat area would be a good idea. A lot of people find this is an easy way to get ripped off with users simply by-passing the payment. It is fairly easy to avoid this using htaccess to only allow referals that come from the paypal website.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I also checked on liveservicedesk and I think they might be better than PHP Live, which was the other one I looked at. At least liveservicedesk doesn’t ask to renew it once a year. I’ll keep checking here to see if any more ideas pop up. I really didn’t think this project was going to get so complicated.
