"The demographics in online shopping are shifting away from the MTV generation... In July, women between the ages of 35 and 44 were a dominant e-tail force, and they gravitated toward what they know and what they were comfortable with -- traditional shopping sites. This new demographic will present a new curve in online commerce as we head into the fall retail season."Top E-Tailers of July 2000 [cyberatlas.internet.com]
Watch for changes in the media buyers for the upcoming Christmas season.
One of our sites promotes a product that has both a technical/functional purpose [read Men] and also has decorative/design features [read Women]. So far 100% of the enquires have been from the Male of the species [we have a request a consultation form], conversely 100% of the purchasing decisions have been made by the Women.
Apologises for the generalisations and stereotyping but they are the facts
>So far 100% of the enquires have been from the Male......conversely 100% of the purchasing decisions have been made by the Women.
One of my sites (real estate) started surveying incoming phone calls to try and ascertain their source. One on the items we noticed a year ago was that the man had done the web research and the woman was taking that research and acting on it, i.e., making the phone call. Now we believe we see a significant shift in that, the woman has taken over the search as well in many cases.
