I currently use 2Checkout, but am looking for a better solution. Is there anything otu there you would recommend? Keep in mind i am also Canadian (so those US only solutions won't work). Also, i don't have access to much money atm so i want something with low start up costs, and low monthly fee's (not sure if it's possible). Maybe 2Checkout is my best option right now?
Any advice?
Also, i used ot use Paypal, and had over 1100 transactions with only 3 complaints.... and then 4 months after this last complaint, they froze my account for no apparent reason. Took 7 weeks of calling to get it restored (constantly giving me a runaround...to say the least)...they have lost my business forever.
Cheers,
Andrew.
My account was definately frozen for an unjustfiable reason, and to get it re-instated i went through several discussions and "pass arounds", for about 6 weeks, until it was all verified.
Paypal's response (from some "supervisor" after the 50th phone call), was something like this: we appologize for any inconvenience we have caused in this matter, and your account should not have been limited. It will be reinstated.
Now, because my new business offers "services" (i.e// web page design), i have no seller protection from paypal (non existent - read the seller protection policy). I.E.// i could design a web page for someone and ask for a payment through Paypal, and the buyer could say they never "received" the item - they only offer protection if you ship something and have a tracking #.
Anyways :) I'll try to see how 2checkout works for me, but the messages of downtime are a little scary.
The reason they apparently froze my account is because 3 users (of about 500 transactions i had), filed a complaint with me. The total of all 3 transactions was less then $35.
All the complaints were also filed AFTER 30 days, so when the complaints came, i received a message from paypal saying that "You have received a complaint, but because the complaint was lodged more then 30 days after the end of the transaction, no additional steps are needed".
Now, over 2 months after the last of these complaints, all of a sudden they froze my accounts and requested me to send them a utility bill, my drivers liscence, and a print out of my bank statement with my account #. I sent them these the next day, and a little "check mark" appeared next to my account saying that i've completely everything for my account to be reinstated (about 3-4 days later after i sent it in)
I waited almost 10 days after this, but nothing, so I began to make calls to Paypal. I received different suggestions from different support people (this was especially ridiculous), some said i had to "refund" these 3 clients, some said it should be reinstated anytime. Anyways, to play it safe, I sent a $100 money order to Paypal with the following letter attached:
Please use these funds to reimburse anyone who was distafied with any of my products, and have my account activated immediately (And i signed the bottom)
.... (at this point my account was frozen for a little over 2 weeks). So, I make another call to Paypal: they received my Money Order, but they then said it takes 10 days for it to appear in my account (so they "know" it clears). (and btw, they wouldn't accept my credit card to pay for this, they demanded a money order).
Alright, at this point we are approaching almost a month of my accoount being frozen. Finally, the funds appear in my account, and then nothing happens. No one is refunded. They then say (although they said a letter to them was fine before), that for them to process refunds, they need me to go through the "Paypal Complaint Resolution" steps in there online help desk type thing. So, i do this again.
Now, about 6 weeks after my account was frozen, i see the 3 users have been credited back there funds (all of about $35). Yet, my account still isn't "unfrozen".
I finally call back, and demand to get my issue elevated. They put me on the phone with a supervisor, talked to him, he reinstated my account the next day and appologized.
All in all I thought there customer service was ridiculous at best. It took 2 months for my account to be "re-instated", and to this day, im' not really "sure" why It was frozen in the first place.
All the complaints were also filed AFTER 30 days
I'm not sure if your transactions fall under the 30 day limit if you what you offer is a non-tangible like a web design service. That is what I gathered from the Buyer Complaint Policy [paypal.com]: "This policy applies only to the sale of tangible, physical goods and excludes all other sales and services, pursuant to section 1 above." (as of 8 Oct 2003)
Do you, by chance, withdraw your funds from Paypal regularly? My thought is that they can't refund the buyers if you don't have funds in your Paypal.
