I am running a membership site (both online and offline, meaning you get online access and offline "membership" goods) and I hooked up to PayPal originally.

Since I think I am losing sales b/c I don't have a real payment processing I chose Verisign Paylink and a merchant account. The Merchant account company, though, will not let me charge for a 1 year subscription, only quarterly, which means I have to up my Verisign account to re-occuring billing (more $) and I have to go in and manually set all new transactions.

Is there a better solution I am missing? Should I just stick with PayPal and leave it at that?

There are loads of processors that would let you do subscriptions. You could try PaySystems, WorldPay or 2CheckOut, but they are a little erratic at the minute to say the least.

PaySystems and WorldPay especially are getting good reviews. 2CheckOut on the other hand are suffering from Denial of Service attacks, and their statements are complex and hard to understand, even for those in the know.

I'm sure there are more, but WorldPay seem to be a good call.
