Effective September 25th, PayPal will stop paying 1.5% back on Premier Business Card debit purchases unless you use Ebay at least once every three weeks.

Webmasters who use PayPal used to be able to recoup their fees by using the PayPal debit card to get 1.5% back on purchases will now have to setup shop on Ebay and sell crap once every three weeks to get the 1.5% back.

I didn't think the Ebay-PayPal merger would impact me but this will be destroy one of my favorite parts of PayPal.

(edit to Sept. 25 not 15)

It's just one of the requirements but it's the only big one. I got the e-mail about 30 minutes ago and called to confirm the situation. Even the operator didn't quite know what I was talking about and she had to ask her manger what was going on. She confirmed that after September 25th, you will have to sell crap on Ebay once every three weeks to use the 1.5% back service.

I would be willing to just pay the amount it costs to sell something on Ebay once every three weeks as an added fee. I just flat out don't care for selling stuff on Ebay and don't want to find a dirty sock I can sell every three weeks. I prefer to stay away from garage sales, even if they are online.

Losing the 1.5% sucks, BUT 2.9% merchant rate is insanely good for no other fees.

Amazon.com is testing their own system like paypal's now and they are taking 5%.

Just try to find merchant services around 3% with no other fees, virtually instant signup, and low hassle.

I have. Why do you think I'm still with PayPal?

I know it's a great service but I REALLY liked those 1.5% cash back bonuses on all of our business expenses.

Standard rate is 2.9% + $0.30
Merchant rate is 2.2% + $0.30

If you want to maintain the cashback, create a seller's account and list an "informational" auction. No shipping, no fuss.
