Well here goes 3 sites two a success one a total failure.

The two succesful ones were both hand written in html, one only took paypal (so there!) the other a full credit card payment system.

So spurred on by my two successful sites I spent a mint building a third site - hired a parttime coder and watched it flop - Big time no orders or anything really.

So how many successful sites do/did you have over failures?

and there was a good point made about suppliers, that is perfectly true, if you have good suppliers who are on the ball and do exactly what they say and deliver on time you are already half way there.

Good Luck.

The point about uppliers is actually more relevent than youd think, I cant count the number of times ive been let down by them.

You lose credability and sales - Im not sure which costs more.

yes you lose a little bit of credibility, but remember this can actually be a learning curve as we had the same probs for a start with cheap suppliers promising the world and giving very little, we gave them the push early on and found someone more expensive but were able to deliver on time, we still use this company and our sales have gone from strength to strength because we know we can rely on them if we need an urgent order getting out.
The profit we make now more than covers the discounted prices from our old suppliers who actually worked out more expensive because of the refunds and cancellations.
