B2B Abandoned Shopping Carts

Any stats for abandoned cart rates for B2B

I see a lot of different statistics (many contradictory, of course) that show the abandoned cart rates in the 60-75% ballpark, as an average.

However, these statistics seem to be for B2C sites. Anybody have information on Business 2 Business sites?

Hi, below are some related threads on abadoned shopping carts. Since sales are slow and I have time, my thought was to call the prospective customer and ask if there was any issue with ordering. If that was the case, I can process the order over the phone while I have them there. Anyone else do this? Or would be upset that a company is calling you about an abandoned order?

I would be pretty P'd off if someone called me about an abandoned cart.

Just keep trying to improve the site and you'll see less people abandoning.

A few quick thoughts:
I've seen sites with no 'checkout' button. You can only checkout immediately after adding something to the cart. Let people checkout from the cart and info pages.

Many sites make the mistake of trying to collect too much information. ie: gender & DOB. Keep the sign up process as simple as possible. Only collect info you actually need.

People also back out of orders if they don't know when they will be receiving the goods. Tell them when the order will ship and when they can expect delivery.

Make sure you have a 'comments' field available for your customers to fill out with their orders. Many people back out because they need to give UPS special instructions or they want to make sure what they ordered is right. And if they don't feel 100% comfortable that all bases were covered, they'll go somewhere else.

And remember, sometimes people are just putting stuff in the cart to price it out for a future purchase.
