We keep getting emails to notify us that a thread we have posted in has been updated. But the email is just blank.

"From: <>
Subject: [Advertising Sales and Affiliate Programs] Reply Post Notification"

That's all. There's nothing else in the email.

I has been like this for several months. I thought it might just be a temporary error, but we keep getting such blank notifications.

So we have to visit the forum and manually seek out our threads. Puts us off from using WebmasterWorld. We'd like to continue being active, however, as this is by far the most useful and best-run forum on the web.

If it's any use, we are using Outlook XP. Don't experience any other problems with our email system.

Anybody else experiencing such problems? What can be done about it please?

I'd very much like to know the answer to this.

We have a large email list and every now and then we have someone comlain about this. My guess is their corporate firewall/virus protection or something was messing up the emails.

Thank you for your prompt response.

We are on a dial-up connection and don't have a firewall installed.

You menioned virus checkers. The only thing I can think of is that Norton anti-virus might have an effect, but of the hundreds of emails we receive every day, the notifications from WebmasterWorld are the only ones that come in blank.

Any ideas what we could do please?

Nobody else having such problems?

Getting stacks of messages in our spam folder as well, with no title. They are identical. All they say is:

">-------------
>Last 5 active threads from the recent post list:
[webmasterworld.com...]

Google ToolBar for Mac
Anyone think it is time for the software?
Google Toolbar
[webmasterworld.com...]

We belong to over ten forums and never experienced such a thing with any of them. Bizarre that it seems to be happening to us and nobody else.

Any ideas what we could do please?

1Lit, have you tried the new BestBBS Bug Report [webmasterworld.com]?

Thanks, tried that. Any advice on what we could do Brett? It's the bizarrest thing I've ever come across in my five years on the web.

Instead of a notification of update to a thread we've subscribed to, we get about twenty BLANK messages!

hmmm. If this were a site wide problem, I'd think I would have hundreds of emails about it as we are now doing over 20k emails a day.

I can't think of anything it would be. I will do some testing and see if it is something on your member account. Let me know if it anything changes.

I'm staggered that I'm the only one having this problem at WebmasterWorld.com. Didn't post here for a few days to see if things might change, but still the same problem.

I use several other webmaster forums and never have issues with receiving the notifications.

To demonstrate to you what's going on, I've got a screenshot of what I get in Outlook here <SNIP>

Can you see the 27 or so messages in my spam folder, they all come with the one correct notification message (which goes to my inbox).

Each and ever notification messages results in numerous blank messages coming with it :)

I realise I'm the only one suffering with this, and don't want to waste your time, but it is making WW unusable for me.

Any advice/feedback? Thanks.
