What do you have against it?

I notice that the donate/subscribe button occasionally changes to a notice of being banner free for 3 years and aiming for 4.

What I would like to ask is what do people here have against advertising with a small (not large, non flash etc) banner?

I hate advertising overload but surely on this site a well designed and not in your face concept could be created.

I am actually all for advertising especially if the site is selective with its advertisers.

I think the issue is one of bias...would people still believe we were unbiased here, with banners / and or ads every other page...? And, it would push the issue of dropping commercial urls -> would we just 'not talk about the banners'...even though they *sound* like great products we're all interested in?

Tough call, but I think it's the right way to go, personally. Just my opinion. ;)
